As China faces an increasingly aging population—Huanggang City in Hubei Province alone has an elderly rate of 24.1%—the need for accessible, efficient elderly care is more urgent than ever. In response, the local government of Huanggang, together with Hyperchain Technology as the core technology provider, has launched the Huanggang Smart Elderly Care Platform, a citywide digital solution that integrates government oversight, care services, and real-time data coordination.
Let’s begin with a real story.
64-year-old Xiao Qiumei, who has long suffered from rheumatism and uses a wheelchair, is classified as semi-disabled by the Huangzhou District Civil Affairs Bureau. On this day, caregiver Deng Aihong visits her home to provide assisted bathing services—an appointment scheduled by Xiao’s son through the city’s intelligent elderly care platform. It’s not her first time using the service. Thanks to the platform, elderly residents like Xiao can enjoy essential services at a low cost, with government subsidies covering the difference. “They help with cleaning, bathing, haircuts, even keeping me company—they’re wonderful,” Xiao says with a smile.
After the 90-minute service, Deng uploads the service report directly to the cloud. At the Huanggang Elderly Care Operations Command Center, a real-time dashboard displays key data for all ongoing services: names, service types and durations, caregiver IDs, location tracking, and more—all seamlessly synchronized.
This initiative is part of a smart elderly care ecosystem developed by Hyperchain in partnership with the Huanggang municipal government and local care institutions. The system combines intelligent service dispatch, real-time supervision, and performance evaluation to deliver safe, personalized, and data-driven care across the city.
Key Highlights
1. Intelligent Profiling & Service Matching
To ensure tailored care delivery, the platform uses data analytics to classify 1.395 million elderly residents based on age, physical condition, and dependency level. This profiling enables the precise allocation of eight core service types, including meal delivery, health care, and daily errands.
2. Seamless Online & Offline Integration
The platform connects government resources, social institutions, and volunteer networks to create a full-service loop—from order placement to task dispatch to in-home service. Orders can be placed via app, hotline, or community service terminals. In emergencies, a one-click SOS feature ensures immediate assistance.
3. Cross-System Data Collaboration for Real-Time Oversight
At the core of the platform is a powerful data interoperability and collaboration framework that links government, service providers, and users. This ensures consistent service quality, transparent supervision, and evidence-based decision-making.
l For regulators: The platform enables real-time monitoring, data-driven evaluations, and performance benchmarking.
l For users: Families can track service records, give feedback, and rate caregivers directly.
l For service providers: Entry is governed by clear compliance standards, with ongoing audits and a performance-based incentive system.
As of January 2025, the Huanggang Smart Elderly Care Platform has delivered over 341,670 service orders, with a total transaction volume exceeding RMB 44.4 million. The platform has attracted 2,240 service providers, including elderly care institutions, healthcare providers, and community organizations. It also supports a growing ecosystem of over 20,000 registered professionals—including volunteers, medical staff, and caregivers—across the city.
These figures reflect not only the platform’s operational scale, but also its ability to mobilize multi-stakeholder participation and deliver real services to those in need.
This project demonstrates how cutting-edge technologies—blockchain, cloud computing, and intelligent analytics—can address urgent social needs with empathy and precision. Moving forward, Hyperchain will continue to collaborate with more cities and institutions, expanding the boundaries of smart elderly care to build a warmer, more dignified future for aging populations.
